Welcome to the Manxsy Fees and Payments page! Here you’ll find all the important details about our marketplace fees, PayPal transaction costs, and what type of PayPal account you need to sell on Manxsy smoothly and securely. Please note: both Manxsy’s commission and PayPal fees are calculated on the full sale price of each product.

1. Manxsy Marketplace Fees 🛍️

When you sell a product on Manxsy, we charge a small commission fee to help cover the costs of running the platform and supporting sellers like you.

Important: Both Manxsy’s commission and PayPal fees are calculated on the full sale price of the product.

Commission Fee: 6% of the product sale price
Fixed Fee: £0.20 per transaction

Example:
If you sell a product for £50, here’s how fees work out:

Commission: 6% of £50 = £3.00
Fixed fee: £0.20
Total Manxsy fee: £3.20
Your payout before PayPal fees: £50 – £3.20 = £46.80

2. PayPal Fees Explained

Manxsy uses PayPal Marketplace to handle payments securely. PayPal charges its own fees on each transaction — these are separate from Manxsy’s commission.

Important: PayPal fees are calculated on the full sale price of the product, just like Manxsy’s commission.

Typical PayPal fees for UK sellers:
2.9% + £0.30 per transaction

Example using a £50 sale:

PayPal fee: (2.9% of £50) + £0.30 = £1.45 + £0.30 = £1.75

Fees Summary

When you sell on Manxsy:

Manxsy commission and PayPal fees are both calculated on the full sale price of your product.
Manxsy takes 6% + £0.20 per transaction.
PayPal charges 2.9% + £0.30 per transaction (for UK sellers).
Your total fees are the sum of the Manxsy commission and PayPal fees, and your payout is what remains after both fees are deducted.

Example for a £50 sale:

Manxsy commission: £3.20
PayPal fees: £1.75
Total fees: £4.95
Your payout: £45.05

4. What Type of PayPal Account Do I Need?

To sell on Manxsy, you must have a PayPal Business account connected to your seller profile.

Why a Business account?

Enables you to accept payments as a vendor
Grants access to PayPal Seller Protection
Lets you issue refunds, manage disputes, and send invoices
Required to use PayPal Marketplace features

5. How to Connect Your PayPal Business Account to Manxsy

When you register as a vendor on Manxsy, you’ll be guided through a Set-up Wizard, which includes a step to connect your PayPal Business account.

If you skipped the setup wizard, you can connect your account at any time:

Go to your Seller Dashboard
Navigate to Settings → Payments
Follow the prompts to link your PayPal Business account

Important for Isle of Man Vendors 🇮🇲
When connecting your PayPal account, please set your business location as “United Kingdom”, not “Isle of Man.”
PayPal Marketplace doesn’t currently list the Isle of Man as a selectable country. To connect your PayPal account smoothly with Manxsy:
Go to your Seller Dashboard → Settings → Store → Country.
Select “United Kingdom” from the dropdown.
Don’t worry—this won’t affect your ability to receive payments or run your business from the Isle of Man. Everything will work exactly the same as if you’d selected the Isle of Man!

6. How to Convert Your Personal PayPal Account to Business (For Free)

Already have a personal PayPal account? You can upgrade it easily:

Log in at paypal.com
Click the Settings (gear icon)
Under Account Type, choose Upgrade to a Business account
Enter your business details
Complete the upgrade — there are no fees!

7. How to Create a New PayPal Business Account

Prefer to keep your personal and business accounts separate? Create a new Business account:

Visit paypal.com/business
Click Sign Up
Choose Business Account
Enter your business email and details
Complete the setup — it’s free!

8. Important Tips for PayPal Accounts

Use an email address you check regularly — payment alerts and customer messages go there.
Make sure your PayPal account is verified and linked to a bank account for smooth withdrawals.
Keep your account details up to date to avoid payment disruptions.
